Care for our community is the basis of
what we do.
MARSDEN COVE PHARMACY
Marsden Cove Pharmacy exists to serve the community by supplying health care necessities.
Supplying what your family needs for health and wellness - Our caring and professional team provides solutions and advice to promote health and wellness for our valued clientele.
Blister Packs
At Marsden Cove pharmacy we can provide you with individually made blister packs of your medicines. These can be supplied weekly, fortnightly, or monthly depending on your needs. This type of packaging can help you to take your medicine at the right time. It can also make it easier to see if you have missed a dose or are running out. Blistering is useful if you are travelling as it avoids having to take multiple containers. Liquids are not able to be blister packed.
Blisterpacks are free if you take more than 5 medications. Otherwise, each blisterpack costs $5
Medicine & needles disposal service
Unwanted medicines are often dumped into the toilet, tipped down the sink or put out with the garbage, which starts a journey that can seriously harm the environment. Please return any expired or unwanted medicines, or needles/lancets and syringes to the pharmacy. In doing so, we can make your home a safer place, help safeguard our community and protect our environment. There is no charge for this service.
Smoking cessation
Our pharmacy staff are trained to provide a service to help people to stop smoking. This service includes advice and providing quit smoking support aids e.g. nicotine gum.
You don't have to pay for the consultation, but prescription medicines may have a $5 charge per item.
Clozapine dispensing
It is very important that you receive regular blood tests while you are taking clozapine. We will check your blood test results to make sure the appropriate dose of clozapine is dispensed for you.
Long-term conditions (LTC) service
This service is designed for people with long-term illnesses who may need support with their medicines. An assessment is used to identify the things that affect your ability to take medication as prescribed. Pharmacists work together with you to address each issue. The pharmacist is able to assist you with managing your medications and can coordinate your medications so that your prescription repeats happen all at the same time and therefore require only one trip to have your prescriptions refilled. They can also provide you with a reminder service (via text message, email or phone call) to let you know when your next supply of medications is ready for collection. If you are having difficulties managing your medicines (e.g. forgetting to take them), please ask your pharmacist whether this service is right for you.
Emergency Contraceptive Pill (ECP)
Our pharmacists are trained to assess whether the ECP is appropriate for you. This is done in a confidential manner. The ECP works best if taken as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse but may be taken up to 72 hours after. There is usually a charge associated with receiving the ECP.
The consultation fee is $35 or FREE if you reside in Northland.
Selected oral contraceptives
Our specially trained pharmacists can supply selected oral contraceptives without a prescription under certain circumstances. Up to six months’ supply of selected oral contraceptives can be sold to women who have previously been prescribed the same oral contraceptive within the last three years and who have not developed any risk factors. There is a charge for both the medicine and the consultation when you receive this service.
The consultation fee is $35 plus the cost of the medicine. The cost of the medication varies depending on the oral contraceptive.
Trimethoprim dispensing
Marsden Cove Pharmacy has trained pharmacists who can supply the antibiotic, trimethoprim, for women aged between 16 and 65 who have an uncomplicated urinary tract infection.
We charge $20 per consultation including the tablets.
WINZ and other reports
If you require reports on your medicines or the cost of your medicines please simply ask a member of the pharmacy team.
Sildenafil dispensing for erectile dysfunction
Marsden Cove Pharmacy has specially trained pharmacists who are able to prescribe sildenafil for erectile dysfunction in men aged 35 – 70 years who meet specific assessment criteria.
The yearly consultation fee is $35. The cost of the medication varies depending on the strength and quantity.
COVID-19 Vaccination
What you need to know
The majority of routine vaccinations can now be administered before, after, or at the same time as your COVID-19 vaccinations. The exception to this is the Zostavax (shingles) vaccine where a 7-day gap before or after receiving the Pfizer COVID-19 is advised. If you have any questions, please discuss with one of the pharmacists.
Vaccine Pass
Under the current setting, Vaccines passes are not longer required.
Booking your vaccine
There are a number of simple ways available to book your Vaccine. You can visit www.bookmyvaccine.co.nz. Walk-ins are welcome but might have to wait as we prioritise bookings. Or simply call the pharmacy to arrange a time.
COVID-19 testing for international travel
We are able to offer unfunded pre-departure supervised rapid antigen testing (RATs) for people who are travelling. We only use NZ MOH approved RAT. However, please note requirements of countries may vary and some do not accept RATs, so you will need to review the test requirements for your destination country.
Please call us to book an appointment. The charge for this service is $50/person.
Influenza (flu) Vaccination
Immunisation is one of the most effective medical interventions to prevent infections and has led to the decline of many serious, potentially lethal, diseases. Marsden Cove pharmacy has staff that are trained and authorised to give flu vaccines. The flu vaccination is free for:
people aged 65 years and older
Māori and Pacific peoples aged 55 to 64 years
